JOB DESCRIPTION
Slitter Operator Job Duties
- Set up and operate slitting machines to cut and rewind rolls of material, such as paper, film, foil, and nonwovens, according to job specifications and customer requirements.
- Adjust machine settings such as speed, tension, and blade positioning to ensure precision cuts and to accommodate different materials and sizes.
- Inspect materials for defects or deviations from specifications before and after slitting to ensure quality control throughout the production process.
- Load raw material rolls onto the slitter and thread material through the machine, preparing it for the slitting process.
- Monitor the slitting process continuously, making adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality and machine performance.
- Remove slit rolls from the machine, label them according to job order specifications, and transport them to the designated area for further processing or shipping.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on slitting machinery to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
- Record production data, including quantities slit, materials used, and any deviations from standard operating procedures, for quality assurance and inventory management purposes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, with courses in mathematics, mechanics, and computer usage being advantageous.
- Post-secondary education, such as a certificate in manufacturing technology or machine operation, can enhance job prospects.
- Majors in technical or vocational studies relevant to machinery operation are beneficial.
- Advanced education focuses on specialized skills pertinent to operating and maintaining slitting machinery, emphasizing precision, safety, and efficiency in material handling and processing.
