Shipping/Receiving Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
The Shipping Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and damage-free products. Reporting to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, this hands-on position involves packaging, labeling, documentation, inventory verification, and coordination with carriers to meet customer deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Packaging & Preparation: Carefully pack products using protective materials to prevent damage during transit; apply custom labeling, barcodes, and customer-specific markings.
· Order Verification: Cross-check finished goods against work orders, packing slips, and bills of lading to ensure 100% accuracy in quantity, part numbers, and specifications.
· Documentation: Generate shipping labels, commercial invoices, certificates of conformance, and international export paperwork as required.
· Carrier Coordination: Schedule pickups with LTL, parcel, and freight carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, common carriers); prepare pallets, secure loads, and load/unload trucks using pallet jacks or forklifts.
· Inventory Support: Perform cycle counts of finished goods in the shipping area; update operating system with outbound transactions.
· Quality Checks: Inspect packaged items for seal integrity, stitch quality, and overall presentation before release.
· Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline packing processes, reduce material waste, and improve on-time shipment metrics.
Qualifications
Required
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 1+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing setting.
· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel for label creation).
· Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. repeatedly and stand for extended periods.
· Valid current forklift certification.
Preferred
· Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure.

Work Environment
· Full-time, on-site position in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
· Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (occasional overtime and Saturday shifts during peak seasons).
