Parking Enforcement
JOB DESCRIPTION
A parking enforcement officer is responsible for patrolling designated parking areas, enforcing local parking regulations by issuing citations to vehicles parked illegally, including prohibited zones, or handicapped spaces, and may also coordinate with towing services to remove vehicles in violation, all while maintaining public safety and providing information regarding parking rules when necessary
Key responsibilities may include:
- Enforcing parking laws:
- Monitoring parking areas to identify vehicles violating parking regulations like time limits, designated spaces, and permit requirements.
- Patrolling assigned areas:
- Regularly walking or driving through designated parking zones to check for violations.
- Interacting with the public:
- Answering questions about parking rules, explaining guidelines, and addressing complaints from drivers.
- Maintaining records:
- Keeping detailed logs of parking violations, citations issued, and other relevant information.
- Coordinating with towing services:
- Requesting towing for vehicles significantly violating parking regulations.
- Reporting issues:
- Identifying and reporting potential hazards or parking infrastructure issues to relevant authorities.
Work environment:
- Primarily outdoors but in a covered deck, patrolling public parking areas.
- Exposure to various weather conditions
- Frequent interaction with the public
Required skills:
- Attention to detail: Ability to accurately identify and document parking violations.
