Leaderman/Supervisor – Welding
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
The Leaderman is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, oversight, and safe operation of activities within the department. This role ensures that team members have the resources, direction, and support necessary to meet production schedules while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The Leaderman works closely with management, quality control, and maintenance to deliver reliable, compliant results that support overall production performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily workflow and assign resources across operations including CNC plasma-cutting, CNC drilling/milling, CNC punching, crossframe fabrication, blasting, band saw, angle line, girder blocking, and assembly.
- Monitor and report daily employee and temporary team member time sheets.
- Maintain accountability for materials, inventory, and tools within the department.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to ensure machines and tools receive timely preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Conduct layout reviews of project dimensions prior to assembly when required.
- Perform final preparation of work for QC inspections and ensure nonconformances are promptly addressed.
- Apply lean manufacturing practices to minimize waste, improve process flow, and increase productivity.
- Enforce and model compliance with all OSHA and company safety regulations.
- Promote continuous improvement and encourage team involvement in problem-solving initiatives.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and coaching to team members to support skill development and accountability.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient plant operations.
Quality & Compliance
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel fabrication or related manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, weld symbols, and technical specifications.
- Strong math skills and ability to accurately measure to 1/32”.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate a team effectively.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles preferred.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and product quality.
- Ability to work in varied environments, including outdoors, and lift 50+ lbs.

Physical Requirements
This role involves hands-on work in a manufacturing environment and requires the following physical capabilities:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel and walk up/down stairs.
- Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise typical of a steel fabrication facility.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and machinery that require manual dexterity and precision.
- Stamina to manage physically demanding tasks and maintain focus during processes.
