Horticulture Specialist/ Landscaping
JOB DESCRIPTION
Qualifications
- Physical Demands Constantly required to use arms, hands, and fingers to manage or lift items to 50 pounds and/or drive a golf cart
- Qualifications: Skills/Knowledge/Attributes: Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Possess the ability to learn and operate basic landscaping equipment
- Relative Experience/Education: High school graduate or equivalency required
- Currently a student enrolled in a Horticulture program or a related field of study at a college, university, or technical school program
- Required License(s): Possess a valid driver’s license and/or complete the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program
- Projected Work Schedule: Must be available for a varying work schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Responsibilities
- Throughout the program, interns will be able to work alongside experienced professionals, be involved in innovative and industry-leading horticultural processes and contribute to ongoing projects
- They will develop valuable skills, expand their knowledge of horticulture, and gain practical experience that will prepare them for future careers in the field
- Some highlights include: Plant Health Care: Diagnose/identify/treat plant diseases, pests, and abiotic issues
- Use pneumatic soil fracturing to break up compacted soils
- Operate pneumatic soil excavation tools to rejuvenate and amend poor soils
- Post-installation care of all newly planted ornamentals and trees
- Enhance the member experience throughout the season with floral displays
- Maintain all floral displays and hanging baskets during The Masters Tournament
- Landscape Development: Gain insight into the principles of landscape design including site analysis, plant selection, and layout
- Installation of large ornamentals and trees on new and existing landscapes
- Operation of large equipment including loaders, tractors, and lifts
- Landscape Operations: All aspects of maintaining landscapes including pruning, landscape bed preparation, watering, and mulching
- Learn proper techniques for maintaining different types of plant material
- Constantly required to stand and walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach with hands and arms
- Use vision to perform an activity such as but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, visual inspection involving property maintenance, hazards, and safety violations, and/or operation of machines or golf carts (including inspection)

- Other Duties and Responsibilities Operates outdoor equipment properly and follows Club safety procedures
- Notifies the manager or grounds mechanics of equipment malfunctions or necessary equipment maintenance
- Abides by and performs work tasks in compliance with Club procedures and local and state regulations
- Maintains confidentiality in all departments
- Bring forward ideas to help improve efficiency within the department
- Performs other duties, which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job
